My father’s house contains the spirit of what I believe to be my great-grandfather—he built the home in the 1800s and died there when I was five from a heart attack. This particular spirit showed itself to me on more than one occasion. Each time it was the outline of a person wearing a white T-shirt and nothing else. The first time I saw him he was crouched behind a set of bushes near the back corner of my father’s. It was dusk when my stepmother pulled into the driveway, so I initially thought the car lights were causing me to see things that weren’t there. As I got out of my stepmother’s car, the figure stood. It then proceeded to follow us toward the front door. Chill bumps paraded across my skin and my heartbeat was erratic. I was thirteen and feared someone was there who wanted to kill or rape us. When we got to the front door, I looked in the direction from which we’d come and the apparition stood at the bottom of the front porch stairs (my dad’s house is built up off the ground, so there are probably 25-30 steps before you reach his porch). Only the T-shirt could be seen, nothing else. At dusk, I should’ve been able to see a body had one been there. I crowded my stepmother begging her to open the door faster. She wanted to know what was wrong with me and why I was acting so crazy. I pointed to the apparition and, with panic causing my voice to tremble, I said, “Someone is at the bottom of the stairs!” She turned around, peered about and said, “No one is there.” I could see his white T-shirt very plainly. The figure didn’t come any closer, but I was crying by the time she unlocked the door.

That was one of the freakiest moments of my life. Since then, I’ve become a ghost magnet. If I go a month without connecting with at least one spirit, it’d be a miracle. I believe it’s a gift given to me for a purpose. Spirits come to me randomly and I will relate what their impressions are to whomever the message is for. Strangely, I write about demons, paranormal creatures and apocalyptic scenarios in my Road to Hell series, but I have never put a ghost into any of my books. Horror movies don’t bother me, unless they’ve got a ghost in it and then they freak me out. The Shining terrified me!

Spirits do exist. At least in my world they do. I’ve had one too many experiences not to believe in them. It’s pretty easy to differentiate them from the voices of my characters…except for my muse, Dom. I’m fairly certain he’s a real spirit guiding me on my writing journey. I invite you to join me on the Road to Hell by picking up Pandora’s Box (Book 1 Road to Hell series) and seeing what my spirit guide, Dom, and I have crafted together. The first 3 chapters can be read ---> HERE <---.

Return here each day of the Coffin Hop for a new episode of "Haunted Gracen" and for extra chances to win!! Note: Links will be posted at the top of the blog for each Episode for ease of locating the post.

Book 2 Road to Hell series

Hell’s become more than just a playground for the wicked…

Going to Hell was supposed to save Madison, but knowing she’s dead because of his failure leaves Nix with only one thing to live for. Revenge. With Micah’s help he learns to use his Messianic power. Anything for Mads has become his mantra, even if it means killing innocents to gather the power he needs to succeed. A tsunami he unleashes on a Gulf Coast city is stopped with magical interference, and Nix is more than surprised to feel Madison in the opposing magic. Can he and Micah set a trap to lure her out?

Pandora’s Box…once you open it, there’s no turning back!

Madison has done the unthinkable, opened Pandora’s Box to save Nix from Hell. And failed. She’s willing to risk her own life to rescue Nix, but she worries about the welfare of her accomplice in the mission and leaving her son behind. Following up on a lead, she’s ambushed by Nix and Micah. Shocked and hurt to discover Nix has become a willing participant of Hell, she’s more certain than ever she won’t escape the demonic fate her husband outlined for her. While in Hell, she discovers denying the emergence of her succubus is futile, which means getting Nix out of Hell after embracing her inner demon just became a very real dilemma…

Ghosts are one of the paranormal entities I try to stay away from in my real life. Perhaps it's because I believe they actually exist. I have no idea what I would do if faced with one on a daily basis. I have encountered them, but only minimally and they were what I would have considered a good spirit.

Great post - I'm looking forward to what you have planned for the rest of the week :) (I've already seen day 2 and 3!)

Wow...I read through all 8 of these backwards lol... but still, wow. We are peas Gracen. Peas, I say! Or maybe I'm a carrot. I don't rightly know. Anyways... In your teens, ghosts started bugging you. I don't really get bugged by ghosts. I can see them sometimes if they're around.. But the demonic? Hells yeah. I've totally been harrassed. Literally. I have been shaken awake and had handprints too big to be my own left on my shoulders. Crazy, right? My dog wouldn't sleep in my room with me anymore... Wouldn't even walk past my door at night. Finally had to have my house blessed. *sighs* Craziness.
