Kim Koning
Kim is a dark fiction writer with the heart of a poet and the soul of a gypsy while the ancient rhythms of Africa, the birthplace of storytellers, courses through her veins. Wanting to be either a pathologist or a criminal psychologist, life took her on a few twists and turns while studying journalism and after a couple of meandering offshoots that did not involve fiction, fiction finally chose her when she was asked to write a short story for a NZ anthology (which was a National Award Winner). Kim now lives on the beautiful East Coast of New Zealand’s North Island and is lucky enough to call the Pacific Ocean her backyard. She can often be found wandering the cliff tops above the crashing ocean and walking through the lush farmlands that surround the area. But with a heart caught between two lands, the sunburned, ancient Africa and the lush, green islands of New Zealand, she finds her true home within the white pages covered in ink. Her fiction is caught between the dark and mysterious, the truth and the what ifs, secrets and reality, shadows and light. Kim really does see ghosts and her loved ones believe ghosts and extreme weather phenomenon follow her around. She grew up spending holidays and weekends at her grandparents’ large old farm homestead which had a hidden wing that was haunted. These early experiences with haunted homes ignited her imagination and started a spark that made her question what else is out there that we couldn’t see, what is around us observing us? Why could she see these ghosts/spirits and many others couldn’t? The spark was lit and the stories started coming as fast as she could write them down. One of these real life experiences sparked The Redgates Secrets, Kim’s debut 6 part novella series.

BLURB:

Taboo Kisses…where desires and inhibitions collide.

Dispatched to the mortal realm from Atlantis to seek the source of a brewing rebellion, Sameya is thrown for a tailspin when she discovers her fated mates. As a siren her songs entice mankind and immortals alike to their death. She’s stunned to be seduced by a taboo union with a tiger-shifter and vampyr. Mating the pair could complicate everything and threaten her freedom. Fueled by her duty to Atlantis, Sameya rejects fate’s wisdom and refutes her attraction to the men.

Taboo Kisses…when the forbidden becomes irresistible.

Gabriel and Maximus have been searching for their mate for centuries. Neither expected the siren they were hired to find would deliver more than a lucrative payday. Frustrated by Sameya’s aversion to their mating, the men anticipate an empty future if she refuses to complete their union. In a rash move Maximus seizes Sameya and holds her captive.

Taboo Kisses…when the siren is serenaded with temptation.

Trapped and at their mercy, Sameya is bombarded with pleasure. Can her mates convince her to take a gamble on their taboo union? With danger lurking in the shadows, will the choice be taken from her?

EXCERPT:

Empress’ delights, she disliked the jumbled way he made her feel. Confused one moment and aroused the next. “What is your name?”
“Call me mate.”
Her breathing died, then escalated. She forced a lame-ass sounding laugh past her lips. “Don’t get cocky. I’m not into leeches.”
“Don’t disqualify me from the running.” He sidled closer, aligning his body against hers once more, but maintaining space with his palms on the mausoleum on either side of her head. “Not when Gabriel and I haven’t had the gratification of making you come…yet.”
She gasped, her eyes rounding at his foregone conclusion. “Better men than you have tried.”
“None of them were your mates.”
“Wait! Mates? As in plural?” She flattened her hands against his chest to push him away, but forgot to add pressure. The hard contours of his body fascinated her more than was practical. “That’s…insane.” But gods the idea fascinated her. “Sirens don’t partner outside our race and we certainly don’t have more than one partner.”
Sameya didn’t realize she spoke the thought aloud until the vampyr thrust both his hands into her hair. After he had her anchored into position, he shifted closer, widening his stride to fit her pelvis between his legs. His hard-on nestled against her abdomen as he tilted her head back by her hair.
“No more insane than a vampyr mating a shifter.” His mouth landed on hers. He nibbled on her bottom lip, licked the corners and crease. Distracted by the exhilarating sensations, she was unprepared to counteract his move when he placed the pad of his thumb against her chin and tugged, parting her lips for his tongue to thrust inside.

Sorcha Mowbray on the Road to Hell

Please welcome Author Sorcha Mowbray onto the Road to Hell. Sorcha is the author of Love Redeemed (Book 3, The Market Series). Other books written by Sorcha are Love Revealed (Book 1, the Market Series, Taking Her Chance (One Night With A Cowboy).

Now, it’s time to create a little hell and get to the good stuff by revealing all of Sorcha’s wicked secrets while on the Road to Hell. LOL  Yeah, you wish! ;-D

Grab your favorite drink, sink your teeth into something decadent, sit back, relax and enjoy getting to know Sorcha…

~~~
GRACEN:  Tell me three things about yourself that we cannot find on the internet or in your bio?
SORCHA: Hhhmmm…1) If I read a series, I MUST read it in order. It makes me crazy not to. 2) I’ve become a little obsessed with country music. I like the new stuff, and Luke Bryan—Lord does that man float my boat! 3) I’m a cupcake addict. Never met a cupcake I didn’t like. J
GRACEN: What hobbies and interests do you participate in when you’re not writing?
SORCHA: Oh! The DH and I just joined a bowling league. That should be interesting. Otherwise I pretty much work, exercise, read, or spend time with my husband.
GRACEN: Do you have any writing quirks or certain things you MUST have or do before beginning the writing process?
SORCHA: Nope. I am completely free with my process. Sometimes I plot first and sometimes I just put words on paper. Most times I will eventually go back and fill in my plotting tool – a spreadsheet with a Conflict grid, timeline, and character write-ups.
GRACEN: If you were plotting to take over the world, how would you do it?
SORCHA: I’d make a dual strike on the media outlets and the militaries. Control of information flow is way more important than anything. If you own the media and the military…the rest will fall in to place. Not that I think about this much. ;-)
GRACEN: If you could make one statement that the entire planet would hear and remember, what would it be?
SORCHA: While personal rights and liberties are very important, the exercise of those rights and liberties should never come at the expense of someone else. Consider the greater good as you decide what is important and worth fighting for.
GRACENWhat genre do you write and why that genre?
SORCHA: I write erotic romance because I like sex. I also like romance…seems like a natural pairing. LOL! I started with historicals because that is what I read when I started reading romance.
GRACEN: For those who are not yet familiar with SORCHA, can you please give us some details about the book and/or series?
SORCHA: Love Redeemed is the second book in The Market Series. The Market is a Victorian London brothel where sex of the very tame sort can be found as well as kinks of all kinds. Those Victorians were quite frisky! In Love Redeemed a local businessman and one of the prostitutes meet under specious circumstances and end up sleeping together. She disappears in lieu of explaining she is a whore and he goes on the hunt. Once he finds her—and he does—he must convince her of the redemptive power of love.
Book one, Love Revealed tells the story of Kat and Heath two peers who sate their unusual desires at The Market with a masked lover. When they discover that they know each other in real life as well all kinds of possibilities open up if they are willing to take a chance.
The third book in the series, Love Reclaimed, will be out later this year and will be the story of the Madame who runs the brothel. It is a second chance romance with an older hero and heroine. While the first two books can be read in any order, the third book should come last.
GRACEN:  Do you have any new stories in the works and can you tell us a bit about it/them?
SORCHA: Beyond Love Reclaimed which is in edits, I am working on a contemporary cowboy story as well as a post-apocalypse M/M/M/F romance.
The cowboy story features a female bull rider—and yes there actually is at least one today— and the cowboy she idolizes. They’re a feisty bunch to wrangle. LOL!
GRACEN: If you could describe your writing with one word or brief phrase, what would it be? Please delve into the core of your writing to tell us what word or phrase you want readers to take with them when they’ve finished reading your story.
SORCHA: Perception. Perception affects how we see things and react to things and one person’s perception is not shared by another. It is often what leads to misunderstanding both of our-selves and others. It also causes trouble for many of my characters.
GRACEN: What, in your opinion, makes your story unique and what makes it stand out from other stories in your genre? Think of this as a pitch to convince readers to pick up your books.
SORCHA: For starters, Love Redeemed is about an active prostitute and a textiles importer. It is not your average historical romance. I love that Serena, the heroine, is unapologetic for being a prostitute. She’s realistic about her life, the hand fate dealt her, and what she’s done to survive. She is also realistic about the limits these factors place on her; at least that’s how she sees it. Brennan has a very different perspective.
GRACEN: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever done in the name of research?
SORCHA: So far I haven’t physically done anything crazy…but oh boy my Google search is pretty shocking. LOL!
GRACEN: Of all your books, which character did you have the most fun creating and why?
SORCHA: I think I’ve grown partial to Madame Marchander mainly because she has been with me through all three books of The Market Series. She’s tough on the outside with a sweet candy middle, and I love that about her.
GRACEN: If you had the opportunity to meet just one of your characters in real life, who would it be and why?
SORCHA: While I love all three of my heroines from The Market Series…I think Heath, the hero from book 1 intrigues me the most. Probably because he is a dom in Lord’s clothing. I’d love to see what he’s like to spend some time with off the page. J
GRACEN: Which of your characters would you never want to meet under any circumstance and why?
SORCHA: None really. I have yet to write a truly evil villain. The closest to one I’d think twice about meeting is Lady Caroline—Brennan’s sister. She’s a bit of a judgmental shrew.
GRACEN:  If you were interviewing yourself, what is the one question you would ask yourself and please give us the answer to that question?
SORCHA:
GRACEN:  Thanks so much for joining us, SORCHA!  It’s been a treat getting to know you better!
BLURB:
Brennan Whitling wants for nothing but the love of a good woman. He has a close family, good friends, and a successful textiles import business. But, a beautiful and elusive young woman he has only seen from afar haunts him. Until a chance meeting leads to far more than dinner.
Serena Freemont has only ever known the life of a prostitute. When an invitation to dinner by a handsome gentleman provides her an opportunity to experience life as a young lady, it’s too tempting to pass up. Much like the man issuing it. After a night of passion she must disappear or face his reaction when the truth is revealed.
To find happiness Serena must shed her past long enough to realize she is worthy of a future. To win her heart, Brennan must show her the redemptive power of love.
EXCERPT: (any heat level as this is an 18+ site)
“Are you all right, Miss?”
For a moment, for this moment, she was a normal young woman experiencing the attentions of a handsome young man. Heat crept up her cheeks as he held her hatbox out, and the burning had nothing to do with the sun. “I-I— Yes, I am. Thank you.” His blue-gray eyes seemed to bore into her.
“I am so glad. I was sure you were a goner there for a moment.” He flashed a brilliant grin liquefying Serena’s insides instantly. “Please let me introduce myself. I’m Mr. Brennan Whitling of Whitling Textiles Importers and Wholesalers.”
“How do you do, Mr. Whitling?” Serena allowed her lips to curve up ever so slightly. “I am Miss Serena Freemont.”
“It is a pleasure. Might I interest you and your”—he glanced around the bustling street as his grin faded in confusion— “chaperone in a cup of tea?”
A wave of horror swept over Serena. Chaperone? Harlots did not require one of those. “Oh, Aunt Henrietta is in the bookstore, and I fear she will be in there a very long time. I am certain she won’t notice if we slip off for a quick spot of tea.”
“Excellent! There is a lovely little shop just up the street.” A beautiful smile spread across his face, causing her pulse to quicken.
He escorted her up the block where they stopped at a quaint little teashop. They settled in at a table and ordered a pot of tea.
“What has you on Bond Street today, Mr. Whitling?” They sat in semi privacy at the back of the shop.
“Oh, I was visiting some of my customers and taking new orders. I am very glad I was there to help you, and by virtue of said assistance make your acquaintance.” Did his already deep voice grow huskier? Their tea service arrived, dispelling the moment.
“As am I. Landing on my backside in the middle of the street would have been rather embarrassing. But in truth, thank you for your assistance today, and now the tea.” She lifted her freshly prepared cup to her lips and took a dainty sip from the delicate china. Through lowered lashes, she watched his graceful movements as he prepared his own.
“It is my pleasure on both accounts. You seem familiar to me. Have we met somewhere before? A ball perhaps?”
