~~~
GRACEN:  Tell me three things about yourself that we cannot find on the internet or in your bio?
TIFFANY:  Let's see…I can't ride a bike, I'm a sucker for seals, and I'm extremely clumsy.
GRACEN: What hobbies and interests do you participate in when you’re not writing?
TIFFANY: I try to get down to the beach as much as possible. Rain or shine, any day at the beach is a good day.
GRACEN: Do you have any writing quirks or certain things you MUST have or do before beginning the writing process?
TIFFANY: A new notebook! I love picking out a special notebook for a project. Which reminds me, it's notebook time!
GRACEN: If you were plotting to take over the world, how would you do it?
TIFFANY: One hug at a time.
GRACEN: If you could make one statement that the entire planet would hear and remember, what would it be?
TIFFANY: Dream Believe Inspire
GRACENWhat genre do you write and why that genre?
TIFFANY: Surface and Landlocked are both young adult paranormal romances. I love to read this genre, so naturally I was drawn to write it as well.
GRACEN: For those who are not yet familiar with Tiffany Daune, can you please give us some details about the book and/or series?
TIFFANY:
Surface is the first novel in the Surface Series and Landlocked is book two. Both novels follow the mystical journeys of several different characters, whose lives are all intertwined. This is an action packed series full of mermaids, myths and enchanting spells. Think little mermaid enters the dark side.
GRACEN:  Do you have any new stories in the works and can you tell us a bit about it/them?
TIFFANY: I have two books in the works. I'm writing a middle grade novel, with a mermaid theme. This is a bit of a departure from my dark mermaids from Surface, but I love all merfolk, so this will be just as exciting. The other is a YA paranormal romance that has nothing to do with the water, but is still filled with magick.
GRACEN: If you could describe your writing with one word or brief phrase, what would it be? Please delve into the core of your writing to tell us what word or phrase you want readers to take with them when they’ve finished reading your story.
TIFFANY: Breathless
GRACEN: What, in your opinion, makes your story unique and what makes it stand out from other stories in your genre? Think of this as a pitch to convince readers to pick up your books.
TIFFANY: Surface takes you on a journey to an underwater world, like never before. You thought you knew mermaids? You thought you knew Sirens? Think again.
GRACEN: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever done in the name of research?
TIFFANY: I called this private airline and forgot to mention I wasn't actually booking a flight to France. I just wanted rates, and to know how long the flight would be, what kind of aircraft ect. The guy was ready to set my travel date and I have to admit, I was ready to book the flight and then I remembered the purpose of the call...research.
GRACEN: Of all your books, which character did you have the most fun creating and why?
TIFFANY: I know readers hate her, but Celeste was the most fun to write. She's so shallow, yet she has this insane amount of love in her heart for her boyfriend, Reid. She's complicated. I think readers will open up a little to her once they read Landlocked.
GRACEN: If you had the opportunity to meet just one of your characters in real life, who would it be and why?
TIFFANY: I guess I would like to meet Theia and apologize for all the crap I put her through. I'm not done with her yet, so she made need a hug.
GRACEN: Which of your characters would you never want to meet under any circumstance and why?
TIFFANY: I would never want to run into a Surface mermaid. They hate humans, and would rip my head off on the spot.
GRACEN:  If you were interviewing yourself, what is the one question you would ask yourself and please give us the answer to that question?
TIFFANY:  What is the best thing about being a writer?
                    The clothes!
GRACEN:  Thanks so much for joining us, Tiffany Daune!  It’s been a treat getting to know you better!
BLURB:
Bound to the water bound to land, a Siren’s soul will never be safe on either side of the ocean’s surface. Hidden beneath the rolling waves lies the secret to Theia’s past and as she unveils each haunting truth, she realizes the last seventeen years of her life have been a lie. Now, drawn into a mysterious new world and with nowhere to turn, Theia must place her trust in Luc, a beautiful boy who stops her heart with each dazzling smile, but even his unearthly charm can’t hide the truth—he has secrets— dark secrets binding him to his world—an underwater world where Theia will never belong—a world determined to destroy her soul.
EXCERPT:
The rain continued to drown out the sun, and Theia had no idea what time of day it was, but she was sure she wouldn't make it until nightfall. Her limbs grew heavy like an anchor seeking the sandy bottom. She let her eyelids slide closed. She couldn't fall asleep—sleep meant death in the middle of the ocean, but resting her eyes let her imagine someplace else—a place without so much water.
Her head dipped below the surface, and she bolted up at once.
Bad girl, she scolded herself. You want to die like this? You have to stay awake!
She continued her mental pep talk as she straightened her legs and swam a little farther. Her legs worked like scissors, cutting through the thick water, leading her to nowhere, but she had to try to find the shore. She found her rhythm, moving with the flow of the water, moving faster now, imagining the shoreline before her.
Theia kicked harder, her eyes focused on the horizon. She thrust forward, but, as she did, her ankle caught on something—she was stuck. She kicked with her left leg, but a crushing hold, like a fist wrapped around her ankle. Her scream was cut off as her head slipped under. Her body rushed through the water as if being dragged by an invisible tow rope.
Theia twisted, wriggling free from the force, and she frantically paddled her way to the surface. Her leg burned with the sting of salt water—she had been cut. She reached for her leg, trying to see the wound, but she was swiped from the side. She screamed and tucked her legs up to her chest. Her gaze darted to the ring of dark shadows circling beneath her.
"Oh crap—sharks!"
