~~~
GRACEN:  Tell me three things about yourself that we cannot find on the internet or in your bio?
ELLE: Okay, let’s see… I’ve work at the same dental office with an awesome group of people for over 12 years. I have little patience and high standards. I hate to fly.
GRACEN: What hobbies and interests do you participate in when you’re not writing?
ELLE: Just finding enough time to write seems to be a challenge, but when there’s time to spare, I enjoy photography, reading and graphic art. Oh, and consuming buckets of coffee—preferably Starbucks, but really any brand will do.
GRACEN: Do you have any writing quirks or certain things you MUST have or do before beginning the writing process?
ELLE: No, but maybe I should. I’ll try anything that will make me more productive. I usually write amidst chaos. My house has kids, cats and a husband. We’re not quiet at all. I’d love to be able to go somewhere and shut the door, but that isn’t feasible in our current house. Someday!
GRACEN: If you were plotting to take over the world, how would you do it?
ELLE: Bitchcraft!
GRACEN: If you could make one statement that the entire planet would hear and remember, what would it be?
ELLE: Smiles are contagious…try it!
GRACEN:  What genre do you write and why that genre?
ELLE: I write paranormal romance. First, I think everyone should get a happily ever after. There just aren’t enough of those in real life. Plus, I like the idea of super-beings.  Vampires, shifters, witches…they all give us a little break from reality. But really I write it just so I can make stuff up!
GRACEN: For those who are not yet familiar with Elle, can you please give us some details about the book and/or series?
ELLE: Absolutely! THE LUMINARY is the first book in the Brennan Coven trilogy and features Meera and Ghanem. At first, Meera has no idea she’s a witch. She’s plagued by eerie trances, whispers and hisses. She fears she’s going insane. When she discovers she’s actually a witch, she’s confused but relieved to know she won’t be residing in the loony bin.  But being a witch comes with challenges and worlds she never knew existed. Ghanem is a guardian and former prince of his realm. He was banished after he let a witch seduce and trick him, ultimately destroying the foundation of his family. Now he has the chance to redeem himself, but another witch is in the mix. Can he do what needs to be done and protect his heart? Meera and Ghanem create quite a bit of heated magick.
GRACEN:  Do you have any new stories in the works and can you tell us a bit about it/them?
ELLE: Currently, I’m working on Book 2 of the Brennan Coven trilogy. This one is titled THE SOOTHER and features Calliope, a witch you’ll meet in book 1, and Krystoff, a half-breed wizard/vamp who has lost his soul. This story is so much fun to write. It’s dark, sexy and full of emotion. I’m in love with both of these characters and can’t wait to see what happens next. Yep. It’s a surprise to me, too.
GRACEN: If you could describe your writing with one word or brief phrase, what would it be? Please delve into the core of your writing to tell us what word or phrase you want readers to take with them when they’ve finished reading your story.
ELLE: Don’t be afraid to journey down a new path.
GRACEN: What, in your opinion, makes your story unique and what makes it stand out from other stories in your genre? Think of this as a pitch to convince readers to pick up your books.
ELLE: It’s all about the characters. They come alive. They linger, they taunt, they captivate…
GRACEN: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever done in the name of research?
ELLE: I guess that would have to be performing spells. I’ve had quite a few people send me spells that work for them. I’ve tried them! Some work, some don’t. But what I’d really like to try is a voodoo doll. I may have to write that into a book just so I can have an excuse to poke a doll with big needles!
GRACEN: Of all your books, which character did you have the most fun creating and why?
ELLE: Without a doubt, that would be Bevva. You’ll meet her in THE LUMINARY, but she won’t get her story until the final book in the trilogy. There are so many layers to this witch. It’s going to take some time to peel them away to get to the heart and soul of what exactly makes her tick. She’s gorgeous, sarcastic as hell, fiercely powerful, and she can really hold a grudge. But then she shows moments of softness that make me wonder who she truly is.
GRACEN: If you had the opportunity to meet just one of your characters in real life, who would it be and why?
ELLE: Actually, I’d love to meet Attie (Atropos) from CHASING FATE. She’s the 3rd Fate in Greek mythology and the one who snips all lifelines. Her total existence is full of tremendous sadness and I’d like the chance to talk with her about her job, her sisters and Zeus.
GRACEN: Which of your characters would you never want to meet under any circumstance and why?
ELLE: That would definitely be Ryken, the antagonist in THE LUMINARY. He’s hideous and horrible and forces women to do unspeakable things. Some of his scenes made me nauseous.
GRACEN:  If you were interviewing yourself, what is the one question you would ask yourself and please give us the answer to that question?
ELLE: Fun!  My question: If you could have dinner with any living person and pick their brain, who would it be? My answer: Joan Rivers. I know, I know. You think I’m nutso! I think Joan is fabulous, funny, stunning, and truly calls it like she sees it. I’d love the chance to hang out with her and people watch!
GRACEN:  Thanks so much for joining us, Elle!  It’s been a treat getting to know you better!
ELLE: Thank you, Gracen! This was a lot of fun!
BLURB:
When Meera Brennan learns she’s a Luminary, one of the most powerful witches in existence, it rocks her already fragile world. To save herself and keep peace within the veiled community, Meera will have to hone her powers and brave an ancient realm to destroy the slayer’s magickal source. She alone must dispel chaos and ensure the balance of good and evil for all mankind.
Banished and stripped of his guardian powers because of a witch, Ghanem Adamo, former Prince of the Saharren realm, receives a chance at redemption when his estranged father reveals an immortal battle destined to alter all realms. In order to protect the innocent, regain his title, and reunite with his family, Ghanem must destroy the slayers’ source of power and bring down their terrorizing leader.
Her life . . .
Or his throne . . .
Challenged by fate, can love survive a nefarious battle that can result in only one prize?
EXCERPT:
Ghanem growled into the mattress and yanked a second pillow over his head. The hotel Thane had picked for them was upscale, but the soundproofing sucked the big one. Seriously, how long were they going to continue their party upstairs?
He lifted the pillow an inch and turned his head to look at the clock. One o’clock in the morning. He’d only been asleep a few minutes when the neighbors to the north had kicked off their disco/country/Motown bash. As if their choice of music wasn’t bad enough, he’d had to listen to their stomping and giggling for the past two hours.
Enough! He jumped out of bed, slid his jeans on commando style, and slipped out of his bedroom. Thane snored in the other room, which aggravated the shit out of him. His brother had always been able to sleep through hurricanes and earthquakes combined, while Ghanem had been cursed as the light sleeper.
Making sure to grab a key card before closing the door behind him, he took note of their suite number, 1402, and headed to the elevator. He hit the up button repeatedly until the doors slid open. A couple slipped out as he stepped in. The scantily clad woman in four-inch heels stared at him while her polo-wearing man tugged on her arm. Ghanem realized he had forgotten his shirt and shoes but didn’t feel like taking the time to go back and get them. He was just too damn tired and too pissed. He hit the button to take him up to floor fifteen and leaned against the mirrored walls.
The elevator came to a stop a moment before the bell chimed and the doors opened. This floor looked identical to the one he’d just left, down to the deep blue carpet and textured beige walls. He took a right toward the room that would be directly above his own. He paused outside 1502 and quietly put his ear to the door. The music had been shut off. Actually the place was extremely quiet. Finally. He started to turn away. Screw that. He’d be an ass instead. They’d kept him up. He’d do the same for them.
Ghanem lifted his fist to pound on the door. Before he connected, it swung open. A wide-eyed woman he recognized instantly stood there. Only her eyes weren’t the green he remembered. Lilac? How? He couldn’t speak. He couldn’t move.
She could. She launched herself at him. He caught her, but the momentum drove him backward. He hit the wall. Hard. “What the fu—”
She silenced him with her mouth. She nipped his lower lip, then bit his upper lip. Smokin’ hot. This girl was on fire. Her body was like an inferno. So hot. Too hot. Maybe she was sick. He definitely was, because he should have stopped her, asked her if she was okay. Instead he pulled her legs up and locked them behind his back, heel over ankle, as he took control of the kiss.
Ghanem traced her lips with his tongue until she opened her mouth. He slipped his tongue between her lips and explored her mouth fully. She tasted of champagne and, if he wasn’t mistaken, a mix of raspberry and chocolate. The combination was intoxicating. He wanted more. Thankfully, so did she.
She wrapped her hands around his head and pulled him even closer. It wasn’t hard to oblige when all he really wanted to do was sink into her fully. Their tongues dueled as one of her hands slid from the back of his head to his shoulder and then continued its journey south. She stopped to pet his bare chest, and he thought he’d go up in flames right along with her. Her hips moved in a slow, circular motion. A growl crawled up his throat. She hesitated at the sound, but he encouraged her to continue by moving his hips in perfect rhythm to hers while his hands kneaded her backside.
He turned his head to get deeper access to her mouth. It wasn’t enough. He had to have more. The need to drive himself inside her consumed him. Especially when her hand slid between them and found the zipper to his jeans. In his haste to get upstairs, he hadn’t taken the time to fasten them. Good move, Ghan. Too bad he couldn’t high-five himself. Her short nails skimmed his pelvic bone, and his body vibrated with pure pleasure.
He released her mouth to trail kisses along her jaw. He licked her neck, but when his tongue made contact with her necklace they both jumped back. “Shit.” His tongue tingled as if something had zapped him.
Whatever it was, he’d deal with it if it meant more time with her. He stepped toward her. She stepped back. He watched her chest rise and fall as she tried to catch her breath. His did the same. “Meera.”
“I’ve got to go.” Her hand inadvertently touched her choker. “I’ve got to go.”
He wouldn’t force her. She’d been the one to make this move, but had obviously rethought her idea. “Go then, but know I will see you again. Soon.”
“We can’t.”
“We must.” He should have left then, but he had no control as he crossed the width of the hall in one step and seared her with another blazing kiss. Her hands stayed at her side, but she sighed deeply when he stepped away. He looked into her eyes, eyes the color of brilliant amethysts. “We must.”
