Joss Landry's I Can See You Tour by Dark World Books

The Road to Hell series welcomes author JOSS LANDRY

Please welcome Author JOSS LANDRY onto the Road to Hell. JOSS LANDRY is the author of I CAN SEE YOU. Other books written by JOSS LANDRY are MIRROR DEEP, and soon to be published, LONG GOODBYES.

Now, it’s time to create a little hell and get to the good stuff by revealing all of JOSS LANDRY’s wicked secrets while on the Road to Hell. LOL  Yeah, you wish! ;-D

Grab your favorite drink, sink your teeth into something decadent, sit back, relax and enjoy getting to know JOSS LANDRY…

~~~
GRACEN: If you could pick one thing about our world to change, what would it be and why?
JOSS LANDRY: More kindness and gentleness toward children. We treat our fancy computers and are awesome cars with so much respect, with darn right devotion sometimes. However, I see little children yelled at, pulled roughly through the malls, crying and complaining they are thirsty, misguided, misled … yet all children are more precious than all our shiny toys combined.
GRACEN: Kind of morbid, but if you knew the exact moment of your death, down to the last second, what changes would you make in your life?
JOSS LANDRY: Great question, Gracen. I would make sure to finish whatever novel I was working on, get it ready for publication. I’d also need a piece of chocolate cake, one good cup of coffee, some pineapple and a fresh mango.
GRACEN: If I picked a television show or sitcom that fit my family, it would be the Addams Family because we’re all a bit odd and zany. What one television show/sitcom would best describe your family? Or if none apply, pick a song or album.
JOSS LANDRY: An adaptation between Family Ties, and Full House, and there were two girls, and two boys, one much younger than the others. We had barrels of laughs, and I mean barrels of them. We were allowed chocolate for breakfast, one dessert before meals and another for after, and in return, I got to spurt all the morals you can dream of while ingesting the sweets. There was no strict bedtime, or deadpan curfews, and no need to enforce them. Ours was a matriarchal family where my husband was the head and I was the neck who made the head move. Full House because our four had all their friends over, and friends of friends, and I was at my happiest when all those fresh young faces hung around.
GRACEN: Pretend you’re writing a book about your life. What would the title be and why?
JOSS LANDRY: Tough one. People who know me often say I should write a book about my life. Trouble is, I don’t think anyone would believe it. I don’t even believe my life at times, and I am the main protagonist. I might call it: Thursday’s Child.
GRACEN: What song title best describes your style of writing? (Use any song in existence or create your own).
JOSS LANDRY: Difficult to pick just one. How about, Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf and Glory by Tracy One Road The Band.
GRACEN: If you had superpowers would you be the superhero or the villain? Why? What would your name be?
JOSS LANDRY: Great question! I believe I would be a superhero. Why? Because I like things to be the way I like them: to live in peace and stop the children from crying. My name? I think I would pick Joss—Just Joss. J
GRACEN: Do you have a guilty pleasure? If so, will you share it with us?
JOSS LANDRY: Well, I rarely strap on guilt when I indulge, so this means digging a little. French fries might be a guilty pleasure or sleeping with my clothes on. With all the rest of my made-to-order pleasures, I make sure guilt is not in the picture.
GRACEN: You’re stranded on an island, who would you want to be stranded with and why?
JOSS LANDRY: It would have to be with someone who cam climb trees, start a fire from scratch and be able to fashion tools out of stone. The why is obvious. Anyone who can do all this has got to be a hunk. J
GRACEN: Now, let’s get to know you as an author. When did you become aware that you wanted to be a published author?
JOSS LANDRY: I discovered I had all these stories inside my head while walking on the beach one day in Miami Florida. A story about Eric Parker running with an envelope he wasn’t supposed to handle. When the dialogue between him and a friend took shape, so clearly, I realized I had to put these stories on paper.
GRACEN: Are there any particular authors that made an impact on you growing up or as an adult? Did any particular teacher or someone else in your life make an impact on your writing?
JOSS LANDRY: Well, I Can See You is a product  of the effort I pu in a course I took with Connie Shelton. She is a known mystery writer and her novel in a weekend course was well worth the time. I also believe John Grisham had an impact, Pat Conroy … Beach Music! I love P.D. James love how her mind works. Barbara Taylor Bradford, also a beautiful writer.
GRACEN: Do you have any “must haves” while you’re writing—besides your computer, of course?
JOSS LANDRY: No. I’m never the same from one day to the next. Different cravings, different needs … I just write. I guess the one constant might be coffee, strong coffee … and chocolate.
GRACEN: Do you write in a particular genre? If so, what’s the appeal of that genre for you?
JOSS LANDRY: Up to a couple of months ago, I was still debating if I had a genre or not. Difficult to grasp. I like a read that has depth and a main plot with lots of little twists and turns and more than one sub-plot. I enjoy a good mystery as long as there is a romantic thread throughout. I also love paranormal and fantasy. I believe what some of the magic we refer to as paranormal today, will one day be known as normal.
GRACEN: Any love/hates as it relates to the writing industry?
JOSS LANDRY: Well, I enjoy the freedom the Internet has brought us. Imagine, the research we can do when the world is at our feet. There are no borders per say anymore. No more great divide. And this goes for authorship as well. So, I really do enjoy these times. Hates? none that come to mind.
GRACEN: Do you have a Muse? If yes, what’s his/her name(s). Why do you think some authors have a muse and other authors don’t?
JOSS LANDRY: If you are referring to one of Zeus’ nine daughters, then no, I don’t have a muse. My mother used to say I was blessed by Muses because I like to sing, dance, play music (piano, guitar )paint and write. So, maybe I do have a couple hanging over my shoulder, only I prefer to call them Angels. I do have a familiar, a Shih Tzu named Chief. He is black and white, mostly black, and follows me everywhere like a shadow. He also growls at anyone who dares approach me that he doesn’t know.
GRACEN: If you could live the life of any one of your characters, who would it be and why? Would you do things differently in real life than he/she did in the book?
JOSS LANDRY: Of course. There’s a little of Emma Willis the Heroine in I Can See You deep inside. She is sweet, wise, and yet so much tougher than many of us might believe a child can be. Or, is it that we find the strength we need whenever we are confronted with difficult situations?
GRACEN: What are you working on now?
JOSS LANDRY: I am working on: Long Goodbyes, soon to be published, and I Can Find You (Book II of the Emma Willis Series) and What About Barnum a romantic paranormal mystery that will be told in two books. There is also Harbor LightsManhattan Melody coming up and a couple of bluckbusters I am still working on.
GRACEN: What makes your books stand out from other books in your genre? (Use this as an opportunity to sell folks on your book!)
JOSS LANDRY: Good question. I always love the other authors’ books I read and find them excellent. I guess what people say they like about my stories is the fact I have more than just a main plot. I like to weave in valuable subplots, incorporating twists and turns that all lead to the main plot, but that could also stand alone. People say my dialogue makes them feel as if they’re right there on the spot. Mostly, readers tell me they’re sad when the book finishes. Plus, for the two books I already have published: MIRROR DEEP and I Can See You, I have received two great Kirkus Reviews: https://www.kirkusreviews.com/search/?q=Joss+Landry&t=all
GRACEN:  Thanks so much for joining us, JOSS LANDRY!  It’s been a treat getting to know you better!
JOSS LANDRY: Thank you for having me, Gracen, love, love the way your mind works.
