Author Nia Shay!!

The Road to Hell series welcomes author Nia Shay

Please welcome my friend and fellow Author Nia Shay onto the Road to Hell. Nia is the author of the Angel Warden Series. Now, it’s time to create a little hell and get to the good stuff by revealing all of Nia Shay’s wicked secrets while on the Road to Hell. LOL Yeah, you wish! ;-D

Grab your favorite drink, sink your teeth into something decadent, sit back, relax and enjoy getting to know Nia Shay…

(Gawd, I love this cover!!)

GRACEN: Tell me three things about yourself that we cannot find on the internet or in your bio?
NIA: I dunno, I'm pretty open in my bio... Um, let's see. I'm an incurable homebody, have thirteen piercings and still want a few more, and have been known to play bocce.

GRACEN: Hmm...I don't even know what bocce is! haha What hobbies and interests do you participate in when you’re not writing?

NIA: There's life beyond writing? <blink, blink> LOL well I do occasionally write poetry instead of prose, and I also enjoy cooking, music, warping—I mean, spending time with—my daughter, I sort of sing when no one's within earshot, and I'm also a freelance editor.

GRACEN: ROFL I thought it was our duty as parents to warp our children. ;-) Do you have any writing quirks or certain things you MUST have or do before beginning the writing process?

NIA: Aside from having my laptop, no, not really. I can no longer write on my desktop computer. I think it has something to do with the formality and/or ergonomics of the office chair. I think soooo much better when half-splayed on a mountain of pillows.

GRACEN: If you were plotting to take over the world, how would you do it?

NIA: I'd create an army of genetically engineered demon-human hyrbids...and I already have one! Muhahahaha!

GRACEN: If you could make one statement that the entire planet would hear and remember, what would it be?

NIA: Get over yourselves and be nice to each other...

GRACEN: What genre do you write and why that genre?

NIA: I write paranormals, primarily romance. Why? Because I always have. I'm glad it's so popular now and my stuff is selling, but honestly, I've hardly ever written a story with "normal" people in "normal" situations...just not magical enough to hold my attention.

GRACEN: For those who are not yet familiar with Nia Shay, can you please give us some details about the book and/or series?

NIA: My Angel Warden series tells the story of Jandra "Jade" Maxwell, cynical former caretaker to the dark angel Zeph. In book one, Dark Angel's Ward, Jandra learns some hard, yet important lessons, such as—love is what you make of it, never wear mismatched socks on Tuesdays, and some things are worth dying for. In the next installment...well, you'll just have to wait and see.

GRACEN: Do you have any new stories in the works and can you tell us a bit about it/them?

NIA: Why yes, I do! The next installment of the Angel Warden series just released yesterday. (You must be psychic!) Ugly Like Me is a short story that directly follows the events of Dark Angel's Ward, wrapping up a loose end from the novel and giving some insight into the challenges Jandra and Zeph will be facing in the next full-length novel, which I'm currently working on.

GRACEN: If you could describe your writing with one word or brief phrase, what would it be? Please delve into the core of your writing to tell us what word or phrase you want readers to take with them when they’ve finished reading your story.

NIA: Intense!

GRACEN: What, in your opinion, makes your story unique and what makes it stand out from other stories in your genre? Think of this as a pitch to convince readers to pick up your books.

NIA: Well, I've always been a science geek, so there's also a bit of a sci-fi element to my paranormal universe. I don't think many other stories have that. But (in my opinion, anyway) I think I kept a good balance of the scientifically plausible with the outright fantastical. And also the sarcasm is to die for.

GRACEN: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever done in the name of research?

NIA: Heck, I still remember how weird I felt the day I typed "demonology" into a search engine. I don't think anything has topped that quite yet.

GRACEN: Of all your books, which character did you have the most fun creating and why?

NIA: That would be my anti-hero, Brax. He actually writes himself, I just sit back and take dictation. He's witty, suave, cheerfully obnoxious, sexy, and unexpectedly deep.

GRACEN: I love characters like that!! If you had the opportunity to meet just one of your characters in real life, who would it be and why?

NIA: I'm gonna have to go with Brax again. Because if he was real, I'd totally have a crush on him ;-)

GRACEN: Which of your characters would you never want to meet under any circumstance and why?

NIA: Honestly, I'm not sure Jandra and I would get along…we're way too damn much alike. She's like me without meds to the nth degree. We'd either love each other or try to kill each other, probably on sight.

GRACEN: If you were interviewing yourself, what is the one question you would ask yourself and please give us the answer to that question?

NIA: Self, if you could be any animal, which animal would you be and why? Self, I would be a leopard, because I would be sleek and sex-aaay and my outfit would always be in style. Good answer, Self. Yes, quite…

GRACEN: Thanks so much for joining us, Nia! It’s been a treat getting to know you better! The rest of you, follow the links below to get to know Nia and her books!!! That's a Momma Hellhound command!!!!

  1. Thanks for hosting me, Gracen! I find it hilarious that this comment is being labeled as a life lesson...I know, it's a thematic thing, but I feel moved to say something deep. Like fortune cookie deep. Lessee... All things come to those who wait, so when you think about it, procrastination is really a virtue. Y'all have been schooled!
