Road
to Hell Series Character Interview
~ Meet Micah, Madison and
Phoenix ~
Gracen: I
have the sexy trio from the Road to Hell series with me today.
Madison:
Thanks for having us, Gracen. I’ll try to make the boys behave. *flashes
teasing smile*
Micah: Model
citizen here. *winks at Gracen*
Nix: *ironic
laugh* Model citizen in Hell.
Micah: Gracen,
sweetheart, after the interview, I’d like to talk to you personally and in
private about helping you perfect your favorite sins. *slow grin*
Madison: I’d caution
against that conversation. *gives you a warning stare*
Gracen:
*twirls hair around a finger* I’ll think about it, Micah. Will you help me
perfect the sin or one of your minions?
Micah: Me of
course.
Gracen:
*naughty grin* Then let’s get this interview started. This question is to all
of you…who was your best friend when you were growing up?
Nix: Gage.
He’s more than my cousin. Took the place of big brother and became my best
friend, too.
Madison: Um…I
didn’t have any friends. My dad discouraged friendships. Micah would’ve been
the first friend I had.
Micah: I’m
still your friend, kitten.
Madison: *scrutinizes
Micah* I’ve not always felt that was true, but rather that you were my enemy.
Micah: Kitten,
I’ve been loyal. Always been there even when you thought I wasn’t. As for
friends…Angels were my friends, had a bunch of them. But friends come and go.
Brothers are the bedrock of my existence.
Gracen: I
believe him, Madison.
Micah: Smart
girl.
Madison: *shakes head* He has a trusting face, but he lies like the devil
himself.
Micah: I did create the devil
persona, however, I rarely prevaricate. Why should I when truths serve me so
much better?
Nix: That is true. He does rarely lie.
Madison: *glares at Nix*
Nix: *shrugs* Keeping it real, baby.
Micah: *smiles* I rest my case.
Gracen:
*clears her throat and continues the interview* What is your fondest memory?
Nix:
Woodworking with my dad and listening to my mom sing off-key while cooking
dinner. *smiles* God, she couldn’t carry a tune.
Madison: The
day I gave birth to my son. That is the absolute best day of my life.
Micah: Meeting
our son was priceless. *nods* Nothing can prepare you for that instant
connection to such a tiny life. Or the love that is so strong your chest
physically aches from it. After living millennia of years—more than a human can
comprehend—I have a lot of moments to pick from. One that doesn’t revolve
around Madison or Amos is when I stole my father’s Pyxis. It contained
the blueprints for some of his most horrid creatures. *laughs* One of my finest
victories there. I’d love to have seen his face when he realized I took it.
He’d chosen not to use them, so I decided I would help myself to the chilling
monsters inside. *eyes gleam fiery*
Gracen:
*blinks at Micah’s flamey eyes and rushes to the next question* What is your
worst memory?
Nix: That’s a
toss up between being forced to watch the murder of my father and the rape and
murder of my mother. *clears throat and rubs eyes* At twelve, that does a
number to your mental stability. I was crazy for a long time. Didn’t talk, was
angry at the world. It’s a wonder Uncle James and Aunt Georgie put up with me.
Madison:
Family sticks with you through the tough times, Nix. *squeezes Nix’s arm*
Nix: *nods
without looking at her, but grabs her hand and laces his fingers with hers* Or
watching Micah kill Gage, Zoe and who I thought was Mads. *peers at Mads, eyes
shining with unshed tears* Never, ever do I want to watch you die again, baby.
Madison:
*blinks rapidly and clears her throat* When the first guy who showed interest
in me died after our first mini-date…absolutely one of the worst memories ever.
Micah: My
worst memory is when I realized Father loved humans more than us. And the way
he tried to kill right before I Fell.
Gracen:
What is something you had to learn that you hated?
Nix: Living
without my parents.
Madison:
Discovering I was part succubus and my future had been planned for me, down to
the minute detail. I’ve still not adjusted to that.
Micah:
*stretches legs out* Playing nice-nice with Father on occasion. I cannot bear
to look at Him.
Gracen: I
bet that is hard to play nice-nice with someone you dislike that much. Madison,
did Micah have any little quirks that aggravated you while you were married?
Micah:
Correction, sweetheart, we’re still married. And I’m near perfect—
Madison:
*nudges his arm* Allow me to answer. He drank out of the milk carton. Drove me
nuts.
Micah: I’d
forgotten about that. *chuckles* She hated when I did that.
Gracen:
Does Nix have any quirks?
Micah: He
irritates me, does that count?
Madison: No,
it doesn’t, Micah. Hmm…*considers Nix a moment* He’s determined to save me at
his own peril. But that’s not a minor thing like leaving the toilet seat up.
*smiles* Nah…our relationship is too new for him to bug me yet. He sings in the
shower and is a terrible dancer, but I think that’s adorable.
Nix: *dimple
flashing smile* Who did you say was near perfect, Micah? *points to self*
Micah: Next
question please. *makes a rolling gesture with his hand*
Gracen:
Micah and Nix, does Madison have any quirks that drive you crazy?
Nix: Um…Mads
never turns the lights off.
Madison:
*laughs* He’s right, I don’t. Nix is the light police, he turns them off for
me.
Nix: If I lose
her in her humongous house, all I have to do is follow the light trail and I’ll
eventually find her.
Micah: My only
complaint is Madison’s inability to accept her fate, as she should. *scratches
jaw as he considers her* Her stubbornness is charming, but detrimental to her
health.
Gracen:
Micah, do you have any special memory from your time with Madison…before you
left her?
Micah: There
are many of them. *smiles dreamily* The day I met Madison. Our first kiss,
first time we held hands…those little things are remarkable. Unforgettable. I
can give you the exact date and time for each one of them. But a particular day
stands out and it helped me through the lonely years without them in my life.
On my birthday right before I left, I came home to Madison and Amos speckled
with frosting. Amos had helped her make me a birthday cake.
Madison:
*laughs* I remember. You wiped frosting off my nose and licked it off your
thumb. You were grinning so big and it’d been a long time since I’d seen you
truly happy. I was worried about him, so his smile was huge.
Micah: *smiling,
he nods* I wish you could’ve seen them, Gracen. The two most important people
in my life looked like they’d lost a fight with a bakery. The kitchen was in
chaos, flour everywhere, sugar spilled across the countertops and floor and
icing—*chuckles*—the icing was everywhere. Not just on them, but on the
cabinets, floor, counters…just everywhere. It was a mixture of blue and purple,
so it stood out.
Madison: Amos
insisted on doing it all by himself. When I offered to help, he’d say, “No!
Supies Daddy Bifday”, which was two-year-old speak for he wanted to
“Surprise Daddy for his Birthday” by baking him a cake. *giggles* I couldn’t
resist his enthusiasm…
Micah: The
cake was lopsided. My Madison made a lopsided cake. Can you believe that, Nix?
Nix: *shakes
head* Nope. She’s a rockstar chef.
Madison: *pokes
Nix in the arm* He exaggerates. I’m no chef. I just like to cook.
Micah: *runs
his knuckles down her arm* I couldn’t understand the mess until she recounted
the events of the cake-baking process with Amos. She laughed so hard it must’ve
taken her ten minutes to spit it all out. Amos kept interrupting her with his
version, or a nod or squeal.
Madison:
Amos’s first attempt at using the blender spewed batter everywhere.
Micah: The
worst part…there were eggshells in the cake. *groans* Worst cake ever. But
those two were priceless. *touches Madison’s chin* Thank you, kitten, for
making me feel special.
Madison:
*shrugs* It was a good time.
Gracen:
Sounds like fun.
Madison: It
took me forever to get the icing out of our hair.
Gracen: Did
you eat the cake?
Micah: Of
course. I couldn’t let their hard work go to waste. And I’d rather forfeit my
kingdom than disappoint Amos.
Madison: *dies
laughing* I could hear the eggshells crunching as he chewed. I felt so bad for
him. Micah was a good sport about it and he never let on that the cake was
awful…just awful. Amos went to bed
talking about how he surprised his daddy. Good times…*glances at Micah and
smile dies away upon seeing his intense stare*
Micah: They’re
not over, kitten. *grasps her free hand and places a kiss against her wrist*
Madison:
*looks away uncomfortably and tugs her hands out of both men’s grasps*
Gracen:
Final question…what would you wish for if you found a genie bottle?
Micah:
*laughs* I invented genies. Tricky demons that have served me well.
Nix: Playing
along…I’d wish Micah bye-bye.
Micah: It
doesn’t work that way. And if you wished me to go away, not only would you never
have met Madison, but she wouldn’t exist.
Nix: *rubs
nape* Can’t argue with that.
Madison:
Hmm…whatever I wished for might change something I wouldn’t want altered.
Knowing genies are demonic, I’d probably just bury it in cement in a safe
location so no one would be tricked by the creature inside.
Micah: That’s
very practical, kitten.
Madison:
*cheeky grin* You were the most insensible decision I made and we know how that
turned out.
Micah: We’re not
over, kitten.

“Gracen Miller has definitely added spice and intrigue in to a
genre that can somewhat be monotonous with the same story lines about demons,
angels, succubi, and other paranormal creatures.”

Pandora’s
Box Excerpt:
“May I?” He held up the medical
supplies.
She nodded and watched as he doused
gauze with antiseptic. “Dr. Nix at your service,” he said with a grin, two
adorable dimples charming her where words failed.
Madison rolled her eyes, and tipped her
head to the side to give him better access. He brushed her hair off her neck,
back behind her shoulder. Such a simple gesture, yet it felt terribly personal.
The air grew thick and sticky with her awareness of him. She shifted in her
seat and crossed her legs.
Madison stared into his eyes. Green,
she thought, his eyes were green, gorgeous and intense, with ridiculously long
eyelashes women would fantasize about. If they didn’t, they should. A flicker
of compassion, concern, and something else she couldn’t identify flashed in his
eyes.
“Ready?” he asked.
The husky tenor of his voice forced her
gaze to shift to his mouth. Nice, sexy lips, designed for kissing. She gave a
mental shake but couldn’t resist wondering how his mouth would feel on hers.
“Madison?” Humor deepened his voice, a
touch of a smile tilted the edges of the lips she’d been fantasizing about, and
she realized she still stared at them. “You ready?” he asked again, and her
eyes widened in embarrassment over her foolish stupor.
She swallowed hard. “Yeah.” She
whispered past the lump in her throat and forced her vision to lock on the wall
over his shoulder. Good God, what was wrong with her? Her pulse throbbed like
crazy, and she felt woozy. Loss of blood! Must be why she reacted that way. No
other explanation made sense.
Even though the antiseptic stung like
hell, the gentle touch coming from such a gruff man surprised her. “It’s not
bad,” he said, dabbing the blood away. “Just a nick.”
Well, she could nix the blood loss
theory. Exhaustion and stress were the only other excuses she could come up
with. “I’ve suffered worse.” Her voice sounded off, kind of hoarse. She tried
to clear her throat delicately, but he must have noticed her unease, because
his perceptive eyes met hers. Again, she thought she caught the edge of concern
reflected in their green depths.
“This isn’t the first time he’s
attacked you?”
“No. It’s the first time he’s tried to
seriously kill me, though.” She sighed as she closed her eyes, ready to give up
fighting, the sudden tears threatening to fall. Okay, woozy and acting strange
because of strain…not because of him. Seriously, as far as first impressions
went, she wasn’t impressed.

Hell’s Phoenix Blurb:
Hell’s become more than just a
playground for the wicked…
Going to Hell was supposed to save Madison, but knowing she’s
dead because of his failure leaves Nix with only one thing to live for.
Revenge. With Micah’s help he learns to use his Messianic power. Anything for
Mads has become his mantra, even if it means killing innocents to gather the
power he needs to succeed. A tsunami he unleashes on a Gulf Coast city is
stopped with magical interference, and Nix is more than surprised to feel
Madison in the opposing magic. Can he and Micah set a trap to lure her out?
Pandora’s Box…once you open
it, there’s no turning back!
Madison has done the unthinkable, opened Pandora’s Box to
save Nix from Hell. And failed. She’s willing to risk her own life to rescue
Nix, but she worries about the welfare of her accomplice in the mission and
leaving her son behind. Following up on a lead, she’s ambushed by Nix and
Micah. Shocked and hurt to discover Nix has become a willing participant of
Hell, she’s more certain than ever she won’t escape the demonic fate her
husband outlined for her. While in Hell, she discovers denying the emergence of
her succubus is futile, which means getting Nix out of Hell after embracing her
inner demon just became a very real dilemma…
Hell’s Phoenix Excerpt:
“You’ll heal her promptly,” Micah growled, shifting
back into his human persona, as he offered his legs as a pillow for her head.
She’d have pushed him away if she could’ve managed to contort her body to that
angle.
Madison gaped at the blood darkening her jeans and
spreading down her thigh. “That hurts way worse than I thought being shot
would.”
“I need to get your pants off, Mads, to heal you.”
Nix’s fingers went to the snap of her jeans.
She knocked his hands away. “You’ll heal the others
first.”
“He shot the main artery in your thigh, Madison.
You’ll bleed out before he finishes with them.” Micah compressed his lips
together and spoke as if he ground his teeth together. “I’ve lost you twice. I
will not lose you again.”
“Death would at least grant me freedom from you!”
Micah’s mouth flattened in displeasure. “Phoenix, I
would ask you to do as she requests.”
“Goddamnit, Mads, I swear I’ll heal them
immediately after I take care of you.”
Madison glared at Nix. “E kawoja ciok tauqelv.” I refuse your healing. Nix spewed
curses in Xapil. “Impressive, you’ve learned how to curse in demon.”
Nix scowled. “Stubborn.”
Madison clenched her teeth in silent mutiny. Nix
cupped the back of her head, tugged slightly and kissed her hard on the lips.
Excitement zinged through her system. Her attraction to him always presented
itself at the most inappropriate moments.
“I find that stubborn trait sexy, baby.”
“Flattery gets you nowhere, Nix.” She winced at the
tug against her wounded flesh as he rested her against Micah’s thighs.
“What does?” Nix jerked the hem of one pant leg up
and tugged the blade strapped to her ankle out of its harness.
“Good deeds.”
He brandished the knife he’d given her for her
thirtieth birthday and grinned. “Does healing them count?”
“No.”
Nix rolled to his feet and leveled her with his
stare. “You’re a hard woman to please.”
“Cease the flirtations with my wife.”
Micah’s grip on her shoulders intensified. “Heal those bottom-feeders, and then
heal her.”

Genesis Queen Excerpt:
“I like the way you
move, kitten.”
She took a deep
breath, like she needed the extra oxygen to deal with him. “Did you square away
the angels in Hell?”
“Yes.” Details
weren’t necessary when they both knew he’d instituted a brutal torture regimen
for all of them. “Dance with me?”
“To this music?”
“You didn’t appear
to be having any problem.” He held his hand out toward her.
She stared at his
palm. Her expression was reminiscent of an individual confident selling their
soul was a reckless choice but entering the deal anyway.
“I don’t bite.”
Her gaze felt like
an impact against his. “You did in Hell.”
He wrangled the
grin under control. “Then I won’t bite.”
“I don’t think it’s
a good idea, Micah.”
“Why?”
A casual shrug when
nothing about her body language suggested she felt relaxed. She crossed her
arms beneath her breasts. “Nix says my idea of dancing is sex with clothes on.
He couldn’t tolerate it and if he couldn’t….” She trailed off and gaped at him
as if she’d just realized she’d been about to insult him.
Micah grinned. “I
haven’t lived as long as I have without executing restraint.” He stepped closer
to her. “I’ve controlled myself with you more than any other.” Because she is
my woman and deserves my respect.
Madison allowed him
to pull her arms free of their defensive fold. Holding her gaze, Micah coaxed
her into his embrace…left hip to left hip, his leg thrusting between her knees,
gliding upward and parting her thighs.
She bit her bottom
lip. Her breathing grew shallow. The heavy beat of the music thumped around
them. His pulse throbbed faster.
Hell’s delights,
she felt fantastic against him.
“Relax,” he said
when she remained inflexible. A soft wind would break one of her bones. “I only
want to dance with you.” Like when they’d been married, just a different manner
of movement. This one more intimate than what they normally partook.
Her focus locked on
his jaw, and she sharply inhaled when he slid his palm down her back and
settled on her hips. He executed the first moves and she followed. As if
magnetized, they gyrated in perfect synchronicity.
